Lynne Brown is publisher and co-owner of the Washington Blade, the nation’s oldest and most acclaimed LGBT news publication, founded in 1969. Brown is a co-founder and owner of Brown Naff Pitts Omnimedia, which publishes the Blade and owns ancillary businesses, including Azer Creative, a full-service marketing and design agency based in Washington D.C. Brown is a million dollar sales executive with an expertise in niche market publications.
She is a past board treasurer of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Other community service includes volunteering for the DC Rape Crisis Center, the Equality Chamber, Executive Committee of the Capitol Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, DC Area Feminist Chorus, LGBT Chorus of Washington DC. Her vision and leadership launched the Washington Blade Foundation, a 501-c-3 with a mission to: make the archives of the Washington Blade newspaper accessible to all, to support enterprise journalism and provide scholarships to the next generation of LGBTQ journalists. She is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America, and a Master Gardener through the University of the District of Columbia Environmental & Natural Resources Extension Program, College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES).
Brown earned a BA from Syracuse University. She will always live in Washington DC.
