Dan Higgins is Director of Social and Content Marketing at the PlowShare Group, one of the largest distributors of public service advertising in the United States.
Dan has over 10 years of advertising agency experience leading clients through an entire spectrum of digital marketing services. His former clients include for-profits such as Progressive Insurance, Fidelity Investments, Tyson Foods, Sanofi, Avocados From Mexico, and University of Phoenix. Some of his cause marketing efforts have included social media campaigns for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, National Academy of Sciences, Truth Initiative, Lustgarten Foundation, and Family Medicine for America’s Health. His contributions have helped his teams win many honors including four Effie Awards and eight Clio Healthcare Awards for digital and integrated campaigns.
Dan is also a 13-year Combat Veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve; honorably discharged at the rank of Captain in March 2017. During his time in the military, he served as a Medical Service Corps Officer and Executive Officer for the 883rd Medical Detachment (Combat and Operational Stress Control). In 2010, he was forward deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) where he managed the headquarters element and operations for a 10-clinic medical unit across Regional Command South. For his service during the deployment, he was awarded both the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
Dan is a former board member for the Boston chapter of the American Marketing Association and graduated in 2010 from Emerson College with a M.A. in Global Marketing Communication & Advertising.
