Biography

Alejandra has lived and worked in the District of Columbia for nearly a decade.  An Arizona transplant, she’s particularly picky about her Mexican food and still isn’t used to DC humidity.

Currently, she is the vice president of AARP Social Communications. Overseeing a team of 17, she is responsible for content strategy and marketing across all AARP’s social platforms.

Previously, Alejandra was the managing editor of AARP’s blog. She is responsible for growing readership and consumption of content (page views, visits & uniques) by 16,000%+ from 2008 to 2013.

Alejandra is a Subject Matter Expert and adjunct professor for digital strategy at Georgetown University and is frequent speaker, panelist and guest lecturer on digital and content strategy.

She earned her Masters of Science in public relations at Boston University and her Bachelor of Arts in Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona.

Alejandra is also an accomplished blogger and food writer with work featured on Food Network’s City Eats, Borderstan.com and her own blog at Frijolita.com.
